The Lost World, by Michael Crichton, published by Alfred A. Knopf, Inc. "It is now six years since the secret disaster at Jurassic Park, six years since that extraordinary dream of science and imagination came to a crashing end- the dinosaurs destroyed, the park dismantled, the island infinitely closed to the public. There are rumors that something has survived." Michael Crichton has written a sequel to Jurassic Park, The LostWorld. InGen has been long since bankrupt, and everything at InGen's island facility was destroyed. But at Richard Levine's apartment, they find reference to a Site B, Nublar, and a group of five uninhabited islands off the coast of Costa Rica. And they also find that Levine bought a used InGen computerm and he had a lot of German books. Ian Malcom, the mathematician keeps talking about the chaos theory and the Malcom effect, is back in this book. He turned out to be only "slightly dead." Lewis Dodgson, the person who hired Nedry to steal the embryos for him, is also back. And for some reason or another wants to find Levine. Some new characters are Sarah Harding, a biologist, and Richard Levine, a palentologist. So did dinosaurs survive? And if so where did they come from? You'll just have to read the book to find out.

I read the bookAlice in Wonderlandand Adventures Through the Looking Glass. It was written by Lewis Carroll. It is about a seven year old girl named Alice. Many of you have probably seen the movie Alice in Wonderland but this book is quite different. It has two parts. The first part Alice has to get home to her house to see her cat Dinah, she encounters many obsticles on the way. The second part Alice is at her house and travels through the looking glass (a mirror). She then has to travel through a chess board that is really country. She has to get to the 8th square. When she reaches the 8th square she will become queen. I found this a very neat-o, cool book and I think you should read it if you like fiction.

Christina Katerina and the Time She Quit the Family , by Patricia Lee Gauch is my favorite book. The characters are Christina, John, Mom, and Dad. Christina changed her name to Agnes, and her mom changed her name to Mildred, and they split up the house because Christina got mad at her family. Christina circled the day on the calendar that she plans to move out, and she did what ever she wanted to do. Read to find out more about Christina and her family.

Beside Michael Crichton's, there is another book titled The Lost World, written by Arthur Conan Doyle, in 1911. Doyle was born in 1859 and died in 1930. He is also the author of the Sherlock Holmes books. Millions of years ago, supposedly a piece of the continent of South America became isolated, cut off from the rest of the world. It's as if time there stopped completely. "Creatures survive which would otherwise disappear. Both the Pteredactyl and Stegosaurus are Jurassic and therefore of a great age in the order of life. They have been conserved by those strange conditions." Deep in the heart of South America, a group of scientists is searching for this lost world. This book was written about 85 years ago, so the idea of a lost world was amazing, even though this book may not be as exciting as Michael Crichton's to modern readers.

My favorite book is The Teaching, by Don Bradley. If you enjoyed Illusions or Celestine Prophecy, this author's third book is a real treat. I read it twice. It is kind of like a great Raider's of the Lost Ark story.

Black Beauty
Black Beauty, by Betty Birney is my favorite book. This story is my favorite because it is about an animal and I love animals. Black Beauty is the main character, a horse, and Black Beauty is telling the story. He tells about his life. His life is sad but at the end he gets to go back with his family. He will never forget the good old days where he and his friends would have fun.

I like Calvin and Hobbes because they are funny. The author is a
good writer. Calvin and Hobbes books have good vocabulary. I did not read all of the books, but my favorite one is Homicidal Psycho Jungle Cat. I like Homicidal Psycho Jungle Cat because it takes place in the winter and Calvin and Hobbes have lots of snowball fights. The snowball fights are the best!

My favorite book is Number the Stars, by Lois Lowry. A very descriptive book about a girl and her friends family's life in Denmark during World War II, with Nazis and concentration camps. This book is like Anne Frank's diary in the sense that it makes you see life in a different way.

The book I am telling about is called Let Him Live, by Lurlene McDaniel. This book is about a young girl who has just lost her best
friend to a car crash. Her dad suggests that she get a job at the local hospital as a candy striper. There, she meets a boy who has kidney failure, and needs a new kidney in order to live. That can only happen if someone else dies. Read this book and you will see the relationship that can grow between friends in a short amount of time. I recommend this book to anyone who can cry when they read a book. Lurlene McDaniel also has other books out just as sad. I have read about 10 of them, and I want to read them all.

This book, by Lois Lowry, is about a girl named Anastasia. She wants a dog and adopts one, named Slueth. Anastasia promised to wake up at dawn to walk the dog and to clean up after him. While she goes out, her mom wants her to send some illustrations in the mail. This is a funny mail mix-up! I think this book is good for ages 8-108. It's witty, and utterly fantastic.

Dealing With Dragons, by Patricia C. Wrede, is one of the best books I've ever read. It's about a princess, Cimorene, who doesn't like being a princess. She does like doing magic, fooling knights, organizing a library, and making cheeries jubilee. Doesn't sound much like a princess, right? The trouble starts when she runs away, becomes a dragon's princess, and finds out that some wizards are plotting against the dragon king. And that's only the beginning.........
I suggest that you read this book and it's sequels, Searching For Dragons, Calling On Dragons, and Talking To Dragons. They're great!
