Phagwa is a holiday celebrated by Indians in Guyana, South America, India and other countries around the world. It is celebrated on March 27th and is good over evil. On Phagwa people come to your home and throw water and different colored powder on you. I hope you enjoyed our Phagwa story!
Divali, a Hindu Holiday
Divali is a Festival of Lights. People in India celebrate it because of the victory of good over evil. People light homes with oil lamps, wear new clothes, and exchange sweets and gifts with friends. People light special Divali lamps at this time of year. The lamps show the way to Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and good luck. The goddess is said to visit each home where there are lights twinkling. In some parts of India, the holiday signifies the new financial year for those who have a business. The day is celebrated with fire crackers. The picture below shows our lights.
