Elk Hunting in Wyoming
By: Nathan Kendall
Up in the Wind River Mountains there are some of the biggest elk herds in Wyoming. The Game and Fish estimate there are 50 to 60 thousand elk in Wyoming. There are some places that you can't hunt, like in Yellowstone National Park. Kids have to be at least 14 years old to hunt any big game animal, and you must have a hunters safety card.

Wyoming is the only state with a state reptile, and it is the horny toad. It is the only non-endangered species of horny toad left. Even though it's the state reptile, it isn't illegal to catch or even to sell. I'm sure it will be eventually though, not just because it's the state reptile but because it will eventually be endangered and then all horny toads will be endangered. So if you're ever in Wyoming be sure to keep your eyes peeled because they aren't easy to find. I know that because like lots of people here, I spend a lot of time hiking.
